Background: The Outdoor Discovery Center recently brought in author Richard Louv (Last Child in the Woods) to speak to our community about the importance of including the natural world in our lives. The result of a multi-day engagement was a charge to our community to become the nation's most nature rich community. At some point, a community will “stake their claim” to America’s most nature rich community. Why not West Michigan?
Therefore, STREAM School students will be charged with the mission of developing an advocacy event at the ODC. The idea of “Evergreen Thursday” places STREAM School students in a public setting charged to promote their ideas around becoming the most nature rich community in the nation.
Driving Question: How might we advocate West Michigan becoming the most nature rich community in America?
Final Product: Group or Individual product that advocates core messages around nature rich communities. Various mediums of “Art” will be created to visualize the message each group advocates for.
